Spelman College

A True Blue collaboration.

For Spelman College’s True Blue Gala, we made a bonbon with Symphony of Leaves: two Black and women-owned companies, and one Spelman graduate behind the chocolate.

The collaboration

Symphony of Tea

For the True Blue Gala, the flavor is our Symphony of Tea bonbon. It is crafted in collaboration with Symphony of Leaves, a Black and women-owned ethical tea company. This indulgent treat features the “Gloria, Audre, Toni & Zora” tea blend, paying homage to iconic Black female writers.

Immerse yourself in the richness of Indian black tea, harmonized with kipp dagga, mulberries, cinnamon, ginger, orange, and bourbon vanilla, encased in a decadent dark chocolate shell adorned with an elegant black and Spelman Blue stripe design. Delight your senses with the smooth dark and milk chocolate ganache infused with Symphony of Leaves tea, delivering a light yet impactful flavor profile.

Allergens: contains soy and dairy.

Our ultimate vision is to help create a more sustainable, ethical, and equitable chocolate industry.

About us

Almost too pretty to eat.

Cocoa Asante is a Black and women-owned company that handcrafts artisan chocolates almost too pretty to eat. The cacao used in our chocolate is ethically sourced from our home country Ghana, and sustainably made in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Our goal is to grow into a bean-to-bar company that sources cacao — the seed that cocoa and chocolate are made from — directly from our family farm in Ghana, becoming one of the few fully vertically integrated chocolate companies in the world.

Our story

Inspired by the flavors of Nama chocolate discovered during her travels, Ella embarked on a mission to share the joy of high-quality chocolate with the world. In 2018, she founded Cocoa Asante, a company deeply rooted in a cocoa industry legacy that spans generations.

While relatively new to the realm of chocolate products, Cocoa Asante's rich history in the cocoa industry traces back to Ella's family. With over seventy percent of the world's cocoa hailing from West Africa, Cocoa Asante takes pride in its heritage and seeks to extend this familial legacy through a commitment to excellence in every delectable creation.

Join us on a journey that blends tradition with innovation, where crafting chocolate is more than a treat — it's a celebration of generations past and the promise of a sweet future.
